It's a great opportunity to walk off lunch or dinner, but if you're laden with purchases from the plentiful boutiques, take advantage of the free shuttles that cruise the street. They're clean and easy to catch, running every five minutes or so. The Mall connects Lower downtown to the Capitol center, making it an easy transition for sightseeing. For a romantic alternative, you can tour via horse-drawn carriage.

Obviously, Denver County's location provides a generous helping of outdoor activities. Mountain biking is a popular pastime, and enthusiasts have a number of trails to hurtle down the side of the mountains. Bear Creek Trail is the newest of these, running from Pence Park to Lair o' the Bear Park. It's unique for its dirt trail, unlike the rocky paths of other mountain biking destinations in the area. This surface provides a smooth wide path for bikers to get the most out of its many dips and climbs.

Of course, Denver residents are absolutely wild about their sports teams. All year round, fans attend games and when their team is away, gather in pubs and restaurants to collectively cheer or boo. Whether their teams win or lose, fans here just can't keep themselves from watching. And Denver offers a team from nearly every major sport. Hockey fans have the Colorado Avalanche and football fans love the NFL Denver Broncos. Baseball's Colorado Rockies call the Denver area home, and the newest addition is Major League Soccer's Rapids.
